Thanks Merry... I'll go take a look!

Hi Robyn, We're in the same boat with starting--I don't know when it's going to work out! But I told the kids we'll do 2 days next week anyway--This year has been so hectic! We use workboxes too! My pictures are up on my blog here. Merry :-)

Thanks! I'm interested in finding out how it works.

If you google "workboxes" you'll come up with a lot! I bought the book "Sue Patrick's Workbox System". It explains her method to organization using bins for the children's work. I have a set for each child. Check out her book! Once we get going I'll…

I'm not one to blog, but thought this might be a good place to document our school endeavors. I have 4 young ones we'll be schooling this year. This is our 2nd year of homeschooling. Jayden is 8.5 and going into 3rd grade. Kylie is 7 and going into…

Magnetic board... after my kids started complaining every time we had to set up the tiles. (They love everything else about spelling though!) Our letters do fall off though (not using AAS magnets). Tricky to get magnets that don't stick so much so y…

A first go...

I'm not one to blog, but thought this might be a good place to document our school endeavors. I have 4 young ones we'll be schooling this year. This is our 2nd year of homeschooling. Jayden is 8.5 and going into 3rd grade. Kylie is 7 and going into 2nd grade. Rylan is 5 and I'll do K with him this year. Bryson is 4 as of August 31 and because he never likes to be left out he'll be doing preschool/K with Rylan. My plan is to group the older two together and the younger two as there is a huge diff… Continue

Hi Julie! All About Reading will follow the same sequence as All About Spelling (so the first book out will follow AAS Level 1). The word topics/sequence of AAS Level 1 will be followed, but the word lists will be expanded. It will include decoding…

First of all, I wanted to say that I just got my Beehive Reader today and it is beautiful!  I love it!  Thank you!   My question is about AAR.  Aren't they all these days?  So, I have a friend that is starting school in September.  She has asked me…

Glad that helped! It's all so time consuming, I know. My 13 yo is in vision therapy, both of my kids need lots of one on one in various subjects--my hat is off to you teaching all of your children!! My 11 yo has struggled with auditory processing,…

Thank you! There's some excellent ideas here. I think I will take all your suggestions for the 4yo until I can better evaluate the needs of the other two. I'm not sure whether to consider DD9 as LD/dyslexic....she's not to the same degree as her old…

LOL, very cute! It's raining cats & dogs here today, I think *I* need a rain "ponko." :-). BTW, I asked Marie about "Nurse." In the most recent printing of L3, nurse is included in the "more words" section, and in the appendix. Merry :-)

Hi Deidre, Whether you can reuse the cards this soon depends on what your 9 yo needs from AAS. The first step of every level will review all previously learned phonogram, sound, and key cards, so you will always need to "borrow" the cards back for…

Deidre, I think you can go ahead and start with your 4yo. I like to have separate sets of phonogram cards for my kids, but I don't think most people do that. You can buy the phonogram cards separately, if you are like me. Other than that level 2 wi…

I just started using AAS 1 with my 9yo dd.  She is moving through it quite quickly, and we will finish next week.  My 4yo already reads CVC words fluently, and writes a lot of inventive writing (but can spell CVC words).   I'm thinking of starting 4…

I have the same problem with my daughter. She is younger than your son (almost 8) and she doesn't mind writing, but she is always in such a hurry that it comes out very, very sloppy! Recently I noticed that while doing AAS she became bogged down wit…
