9yo confusing tr and ch??

Ok. Although, I'd think eventually I would want her to "hear" the difference, and not need to look. I suppose she'll stop making the effort to watch when she no longer needs to. --Deidre

9yo confusing tr and ch??

Ok. Thanks. We've worked extensively over the last few years with hearing the difference between /e/ and /i/, but that's the only other sounds I've come across that she struggles with. She still occ…

My dd (Level 1 Lesson 20-21 today) kept hearing the tr sound as ch?  To me these sound nothing alike.  I had her watch my lips and sounded it out really slowly, and she got it, but then did the same…

Thank you! There's some excellent ideas here. I think I will take all your suggestions for the 4yo until I can better evaluate the needs of the other two. I'm not sure whether to consider DD9 as LD/d…

Deidre, Long term they would hopefully build up both visual and auditory memory. While they might not hear it naturally they can become so familiar with the sounds and how the mouth moves that they will recall movements to get to which sound it is…

I would just continue to have her watch your mouth, which is new and novel and she forgets about it. In time she will automatically look at your mouth. Heather

Hi Deidre, Interestingly enough, this did come up once before on here, here's a link to the other thread. The thing I notice is that the movements of the tongue are very similar for a tr compared to a ch. Both times the tongue is to the roof of th…

Glad that helped! It's all so time consuming, I know. My 13 yo is in vision therapy, both of my kids need lots of one on one in various subjects--my hat is off to you teaching all of your children!! My 11 yo has struggled with auditory processing,…

Hi Deidre, Whether you can reuse the cards this soon depends on what your 9 yo needs from AAS. The first step of every level will review all previously learned phonogram, sound, and key cards, so you will always need to "borrow" the cards back for…

Deidre, I think you can go ahead and start with your 4yo. I like to have separate sets of phonogram cards for my kids, but I don't think most people do that. You can buy the phonogram cards separately, if you are like me. Other than that level 2 wi…

I just started using AAS 1 with my 9yo dd.  She is moving through it quite quickly, and we will finish next week.  My 4yo already reads CVC words fluently, and writes a lot of inventive writing (but can spell CVC words).   I'm thinking of starting 4…

I would like your suggestion to my daughter Suzanna Christy who is studying First standard in an English Medium School. She needs some motivation to read lessons on her own. What are the methods? Kindly suggest some methods. Thank you. MBJ Pancras
