Welcome to the Sonlighter's Group. I am Robin E., both here and on the Sonlight forums, and have been using Sonlight curriculum since 2002. I have used Cores P3/4, P4/5, K, 1, 2, 3, and am a little over half way through Core 4. I have also used SL Language Arts levels K, 1, 2 Regular, 2 Advanced, 3, and am using portions of 4. I have 5 children, ages 12, 9.5, 6, 4, and 2.

Well, last year my 10 yo did Level 2 & 10 lessons of 3, and my 12 yo did Level 2 and about 3/4 of Level 3, so I think you can get pretty far. Both also reviewed some level 1 concepts in that time.

I haven't exactly "deliberately" slowed down my youngest, but I let her do shorter lessons (which means she can't progress as quickly--just as well, her attention span for it is shorter anyway). Also I see that she'll need more time on a concept and I let it spread out, or I take breaks and do more review--so I think just naturally because of their age differences, the older one is likely to go faster.

I think a level a year is a good goal, just don't slow down so much that your 6 yo gets bored. But by the end of level 6, they will be spelling on a highschool level, so that rate sounds pretty good.

I hear you on all the different spelling programs! (AAS came out in 2006 btw) Merry :-)
