I've got a question that has come up as we've gone through Level 3.
It comes from Step 13. In the list of words to apply the 1-1-1 Rule is the word 'stir + ing' and I notice that it makes a mention of the 'ir' tile which hasn't been taught.
When we got to this, I just built the word stir with four tiles, we added another r+ing, and went on with it, but I made a quick mention that later we will be taught that 'ir' really is one sound, one tile and will be another purple /er/ that we will get to in a few weeks.
You handled this situation perfectly! The word stirring will be deleted from Step 13 in the next print run of Level 3. As you noticed, the ir phonogram isn't introduced until later in the Level 3 book.
I was wondering about the word analysis at the start of Step 10. The word is billfold, which obviously has 3 L's in it...but the board only has two L tiles.
We just wrote in the missing one with our dry erase markers.
I would like your suggestion to my daughter Suzanna Christy who is studying First standard in an English Medium School. She needs some motivation to read lessons on her own. What are the methods? Kindly suggest some methods. Thank you.
