We started back to AAS today after a long hiatus, in which I was trying to simplify spelling and let my son handle it independently which was a bad idea. I started him with Level 2, because I know he gets all the things in Level 1, but I'm not sure about everything in level 2. He did great. In 20 minutes we covered all the review in Step 1 and started into the new teaching just a bit. I was impressed that he retained all but 5 of the first 32 phonograms, and of those 5 it was simply where he'd miss the 3rd or 4th sound that some of the vowels make, or forgot that the blend had 3 sounds not just 2. It gives me hope that not all was lost.
He was really excited to use his tile board again and seems stoked to be back with AAS.
Well, thanks for listening to me ramble. I just wanted to share our great day.
Thanks for sharing your day, I'm glad it was a good one! Way to go on retention for your son, that's great! Had he gone through Level 2 before & this is review?
That's great! We did the same thing....took a hiatus...thankfully my 2 retained most of what they learned too. :) I can't believe I strayed from AAS...not sure what I was thinking.
We are about to start Book 3. :)
I just posted on my blog that we are going back to AAS also. I had tried going independent with ACE Word Building paces & it was ok but he was struggling with memorizing the spellings and I said to myself "Why fix something that wasn't broken to begin with?" So back to AAS we go tomorrow.
I would like your suggestion to my daughter Suzanna Christy who is studying First standard in an English Medium School. She needs some motivation to read lessons on her own. What are the methods? Kindly suggest some methods. Thank you.
