Week ending February 27

So, how was everyone's week?

Mine was - hmm - so/so and interesting. So/so in the school department: my heart wasn't in it. We just finished getting our house ready to go on the market, then held off a week, and I just wasn't there. We did math, spelling, science, and history. Oh, and the kids wrote another newspaper article for their "Old Testament Times" (we use TOG writing). OK, now I'm thinking maybe I had a better week than I thought I did!

On other fronts, it was an interesting week! We were out every night at our church's missions conference, and heard some great testimonies. God blessed us tremendously with winning the video contest here :), and winning the cake contest at church! So, I guess that counts as school, eh?

Now, we're waiting for dh to get home - and who knows what we'll do this weekend, since the weather is not cooperating with our yard work plans ;)

Monday started with a Civil War day put on by our homeschool group with booths/activities for a couple of hours, a Civil War era potluck, and then some local museums did presentations in costume. One highlight was when the lady in her hoop skirt demonstrated the right way to sit down or pick something up, and my dd asked her if she could demonstrate the wrong way for us, LOL! She didn't, so I'm guessing maybe she didn't have all her petticoats on?!

One other highlight--I took my mom to the airport one day (4 hours round trip) and left my kids a list of school subjects to do while dh slept, and I came home to children who not only did their work but finished early for the day! I can't believe how much they are growing up.

We mostly did review in spelling this week (the day I was gone I gave them a page from All About Homophones!). Plus I reorganized my box into a nice long box now, that felt good.
