Dd had her Friday spelling test, and did wonderfully - Level 2 step 12. All of the new sounds seem to be firmly in the memory banks. So we had another successful spelling week. Next week I finally get to introduce the jail. I'm also starting a couple new curricula so we will have a busy week.

How was your week? Anything new coming next week?

New books? :) Oh, how fun. I'm kind of busy looking at all the books we began and haven't finished (or won't before summer hits) around here, and it's rather wearying. We start every year with good plans and life swallows up those pages first every fall.

OTOH, my son's Christmas gift is making school fun these days. He got a Chem500 set and we're learning about acids and bases in a very simple manner. Next up, who knows, but he's enjoying the chemistry stuff, and I'm enjoying having scored a hit with this Christmas gift.

Things went well. DD (7) is finally remembering that leg has an e and not an i. For some reason she can spell it well on paper, but when I ask her to do it orally she gets confused. I want to make sure she has it in her head correctly so I have been having her spell it aloud daily. This week I think she mastered it.

I got my Analytical Grammar, my VT program and my dd Apologia General this week. Lots of stuff to dig into and enjoy. :D

Next week I am taking off. I need to finish the Homer Core book, so we can't start Homer A and review Analytical Grammar we will start in a week or so after that.

I spent the weekend with Aesop so we could start it yesterday.

Ohh fun!

I came to CS from SL LA, which is fine, but random in a lot of ways. I will never forget reading the Aesop core and thinking, "I get it! I know what to do and WHY?!?" I fell in love with the program right then and have basically never looked back. :D

I can't wait for next weeks update.

It was a revelation. I got a lot more out of it than I did with WWE.

But if I don't get a move on and get started with this afternoon's lessons I won't have much to report on Friday. LOL I've got a terrible headache and feel like I'm getting a head cold. So who know what I'll actually do in the next two hours.

We had kind of a crazy week last week, and this week will be no less crazy, LOL! Took my dh to the dr. out of town on Friday, and we only did school M-W. This week my son had a trip on Monday with the youth group (school holiday) so no school then, and Thursday is his birthday (and we take birthdays off for school) plus Grandma is here--so it will be another 3-day school week here! With 5 days off in a row, my dd didn't remember the phonograms we were learning last week (aw/au) so we'll be doing lots of review here :-).

Merry :-)

Well, we just started Level 1 last week. My little guy has finished Step 1 and breezed through the first part of Step 2 (whenever he focused on me, anyway). I am really pleased. Other than that, this week has been pretty typical for him except for a switch in the day he visits Kennedy Krieger. As for me, I have been doing quite a bit of planning. We work year round so I don't get the summer off to plan. Right now I am considering adding Writing With Ease, dropping Sing, Spell, Read, & Write (my amended version), and pondering the exact resources for my science units. Nothing new this coming week -- I have to wait until April for that!

I would like your suggestion to my daughter Suzanna Christy who is studying First standard in an English Medium School. She needs some motivation to read lessons on her own. What are the methods? Kindly suggest some methods. Thank you. MBJ Pancras
