The ChatterBee

Hi,
Just about to place my first order for AAS. I am going to start my 10 & 9 year old at level 1 and so will buy 2 packets for them. I am not sure that my 6 year old will be ready to start for a while and I am wondering if I can use the older childrens materials for him once they finish the first level and have moved on to the next level?

I guess I need to know whether they continue to use the first level materials when they move to the next level or if they can be handed down?

Thanks
Jo

Jo,

The phonogram cards I like to continue to use, but that is my preference (and you can buy separate whole sets of phonogram cards instead of buying extra packets). I am sure other people pass them down. The rest of the cards I re-use for each level.

The first step in each level has you review the cards from the previous level--so for that level you would need to "borrow" the cards from your younger child. Otherwise, as long as your kids are working at least 1-2 levels apart and have mastered the previous level, you can pass the cards on. The exception might be if you have a child who really struggles in spelling and needs lots of review. But you could certainly try it out and see how it works for you--and if it doesn't you could pick up an extra packet with a future order.

There are a few consumable items in the materials packets. All levels have a progress chart and completion certificate. Marie has made these available for download in the "groups" section for each level, so you can print extras. Levels 3 and 5 each have a booklet--you can get extras of those from AAS for $2.50 each.

LOL, I have gone to a few curriculum fairs, but part of how I knew what to look for was because of forums! I agree, LOST!

I would like your suggestion to my daughter Suzanna Christy who is studying First standard in an English Medium School. She needs some motivation to read lessons on her own. What are the methods? Kindly suggest some methods. Thank you. MBJ Pancras
