Beehive Reader and other subjects?

Hi, ladies! My name is Jennifer. I have never posted before, but have hovered in the background occasionally! I have 3 boys- 7, 6, and 2. This is our first year homeschooling. I am a certified teacher by profession, SAHM by choice. I started using All About Spelling in September (along with the Beehive Reader). I have 2 questions:

My son is almost done with the BeeHive Reader. I am pretty sure the second one isn't out yet. Correct? I know of lots of readers, but we don't like any of them! I never have to coerce my son to read the Beehive Reader because he is so successful with it! Books with lots of sight words just frustrate him! Plus, he loves the illustrations! Does anyone have any other ideas for high-quality readers if I can't get the next BeeHive? Or can I have a pirate copy of the next BeeHive? :)

Also, one of the reasons we love this program is because my son isn't forgetting stuff because of the continual review with the notecards. Do you know of any other curriculums that have a similar approach with notecards? I am particularly interested in history and science review cards. I thought about making my own, but why re-invent the wheel? Thanks for the help!

Marie is actually working hard on the next beehive readers, and we have a *tentative* (no promises! publishing schedules are sometimes out of our control) release date by the Midwest Homeschool Convention April 8-10.

When my kids were young, I used Bob books and Christian Liberty Press's readers which did introduce things phonetically. I haven't looked at them in a long time to see how well they might match up with AAS though. Sometimes we had luck finding things at the library. As for other curriculum--the Mystery of History incorporates the use of note cards (and also timeline activities). If you are interested in a resource that includes biblical history, that's one to check out. I used MOH 1 & 2 when my kids were in 1st-4th grades as a read-aloud (but didn't do the note cards back then), and am planning to restart it soon in more depth now that my kids will be 6th & 8th grades. It's "officially" written for 4th-8th grades but includes ideas for younger kids and for high school.
